What Air Bud Movies are Canon?
After 22 years and 14 films, the Air Bud Cinematic Universe (ABCU for short) has stood the test of time; however, one thing threatens to tear apart this historic franchise, the debate. For all the non-ABCU fans the debate, as it has been dubbed, is the argument over whether or not the Air Buddies movies are apart of the official ABCU canon. As pillars of the journalism community, we here at Tax Free Sheep New decided to settle the debate. After spending countless hours watching and analyzing all 12 films we can proudly state that the Air Buddies are non-canon.
While the 5 Air Bud films are paragons of cinema the Air Buddies movies are a significant downgrade. Where Air Bud is a good dog the Buddies are trash. The original Air Bud films were grounded in reality; in stark contrast, the Air Buddies movies lose all connection to reality. Air Bud and its sequels explore unique and engaging themes and ideas. Unlike Air Bud, the Buddies go for dumb gimmicks and lifeless set pieces. In Air Bud, you can see the filmmakers flex their create muscles and push the art of cinema forward; while in Air Buddies, you witness some Hollywood hack taint a historic franchise.
To reiterate the Air Buddies movies are not canon in the ABCU.
